Health & Safety Oversight

Proactive leadership which ensures Health & Safety always remains your number one priority.

Why Health & Safety Should Always Come First

In any business, especially leisure, events, and visitor led environments, health and safety isn’t just about compliance. It’s a leadership duty. Financial performance means little if people aren’t protected.

Having chaired health and safety committees in a leisure setting for over five years, I’ve led oversight at board level, responded to live incidents, and supported executive teams through complex, high pressure situations. This includes leading crisis management exercises in coordination with police, fire, and ambulance services, including a full scale chemical attack simulation in a theme park. This experience informs a practical, no nonsense approach to risk, responsibility and resilience.

My COO level experience gives me a deep understanding of how operations, risk, and compliance intersect, not just in theory, but in the day to day reality of running large, fast paced environments. My experience also includes reviewing and developing health and safety policies, maintaining live risk registers and ensuring they are fully integrated into leadership reporting and operational planning. These aren’t static documents, they’re working tools to support decision making and accountability across the organisation.

Grounded in practical leadership experience, not just policy checklists.

01.

Understand the Operational Landscape

We begin by understanding your physical environment, day to day operations, customer flow, staffing structure and regulatory obligations.

02.

Review Existing Structure & Oversight

I assess your current health and safety governance, from leadership reporting and incident processes to committee structures, team capabilities and documentation, such as policies and risk registers.

03.

Identify Gaps and Emerging Risks

We identify if there are any weak spots, outdated protocols, or areas where oversight has slipped. This includes evaluating staff training, escalation procedures and departmental accountability.

04.

Rebuild Structure & Ownership

I help rebuild reporting lines, ownership structures, and re-write processes to bring health and safety back into focus, from the front line to the boardroom.

05.

Crisis Preparedness & Incident Response

With experience leading live incident response and multi agency simulation exercises, I ensure your business can respond effectively under pressure, with defined procedures, clear roles, rehearsed actions, comprehensive checklists and aligned leadership.

06.

Embed a Proactive Culture

Health and safety should never be a folder in a drawer. It has to be a shared leadership mindset. We implement mechanisms to ensure responsibility is owned, reviewed, and continually improved across the business.

Plans that Evolve With You

Health and safety demands more than a one time fix. As your operations grow, environments change and risks shift. Your oversight model needs to evolve too. I work alongside leadership teams to ensure policies, risk registers and governance structures always stay active, relevant and responsive, never outdated or reactive.

Whether it’s reviewing board reporting, evolving team responsibilities, or supporting recovery after a serious incident, I help ensure your strategy remains practical, embedded and aligned to your business goals, not just a tick box exercise.
